Weekly Greeting - July 24, 2026
Well, that was certainly an adventure, wasn’t it?
My second Fish Fry was even more memorable than the first, partly because of the rain and partly because this time I knew what to expect — and that made me even more excited that I was last year! Even with the rain it was such a wonderful celebration of community and hospitality. One of my family members later commented to me that, “It was a great event. Probably the most enthusiastic volunteers I’ve ever seen at an event.” What high praise! Even the dreary weather couldn’t dampen the smiles and warmth!
It is such an honor to be able to serve, worship, and work alongside all of you; not just for Fish Fry but every day of the year!
There are a couple of new opportunities coming up that I hope you’ll make yourself available for. The first is a Lunch and Learn featuring Dennis Covington. We’ll gather in the Banquet Hall for a pizza lunch after church on August 23 for “Peace of Mind Planning.” Lots of us tell ourselves that we’re going to get our affairs in order eventually, and this is a great way for all of us to hold ourselves accountable to that! Dennis will teach us how to make a Legacy Binder for organizing important personal and financial information as an act of loving preparation for the future.
On September 13, 20, and 27 we will have informational meetings for those considering joining Bethlehem UMC. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. in CLC 201 (across the Gathering Space from the Sanctuary) for those three Sundays to learn more about United Methodism in general and Bethlehem UMC in particular.
And here’s a reminder — anytime you like, share, or comment on a social media post from Bethlehem UMC, you increase the chance that someone else will see that post. What a great and easy way to spread the word that we are here waiting to share God’s love!
