    Dear Parents and Youth,

Who’s ready to pack 15,000 lbs. of sweet potatoes? This Saturday (February 24), we have an opportunity to experience Lent through loving God and feeding our neighbor. As United Methodists we refer to these acts as “Works of Mercy.” They are what you do with a person who needs help. When you meet someone who is hungry, give him something to eat. When someone’s loved one dies, you go and comfort them. When someone is a stranger in the congregation or your home you extend hospitality.

These are examples of acts of compassion Jesus practiced and taught his disciples to imitate. They are a simple kindness that shares God’s love through us. As we regularly serve with Christ, then he forms new, “holy” habits in our hearts: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Isn’t that what the season of Lent is all about? Creating little habits that bring us closer to Christ and bring light to darkness.

Here are the details. We will meet at Belle Meade UMC at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and wrap up at 11:00 a.m. This event is open to all youth, friends, parents, and siblings. We need 25 volunteers from Bethlehem UMC of all ages to show up and sort from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. We’re halfway there! Please click this link to register:

Sunday school and youth group continues this week and we need parent volunteers to sign up to bring a meal on Sunday nights: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B4FA4A728A1F4C61-47643726-youth#/

Thank you, Tamara Horne for bringing our meal last week!

On Sunday, March 3, we will host Family Night at Youth Group. This will include a potluck style meal, games and parent meeting. Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend.

As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

    Peace,
