Weekly Greeting - April 10, 2026

I hope that you are having a blessed Easter week!

As we draw closer to the summer, I have experienced almost all of my Bethlehem “firsts,” with the exception of one…

Church Has Left the Building

I am so excited for this Sunday and can’t wait to hear and see all the things God does with and through this congregation as we spend our morning in service to others.

In the tenth chapter of Luke’s gospel, after Jesus has sent out the twelve disciples to heal sickness and they have returned, Jesus sends out seventy disciples.  Their mission is to go to every city and town that Jesus will visit on his journey to Jerusalem.  He tells them that whenever they enter a city and they are welcomed in that city, they should say to the people of that city,

“God’s Kingdom has come upon you.”

What a beautiful message to share, that God’s Kingdom is upon us. That it is within us. That it is nearer than we could imagine.

The passage goes on to say that the seventy disciples return to Jesus joyously.  They have seen the power of God at work in their lives and in the lives of the people that they met.  They are astounded by what they were able to accomplish in Jesus’ name.

I am looking forward to hearing all the stories about what God is able to do next Sunday with a faithful group of willing disciples from Bethlehem United Methodist Church.  In fact, here’s what I hope you’ll do.  I hope that as you’re working next Sunday morning you will look for “good news,” that you will look for what God is doing, and that you’ll come back on April 19th and share your good news stories with the congregation.

Yes, we’re going to stretch “Tell Me Something Good” for one more week, but this time the stories that we are going to hear are your stories.  Where did you see God’s good news during Church Has Left the Building?  Maybe you met someone on your work team that you’d never met before and they blessed you in some special way.  Maybe you tried something new and found out that God worked through your gifts.  Maybe you served someone and found in the process that you were actually serving Jesus.

Keep an eye out on Sunday for these good news stories.  Send an email or a text to Mary Beth or Terry and tell us that you have a story to share in worship on April 19, and we’ll make sure your story is heard!

Let’s watch for God’s good news this Sunday!

Mary Beth
