Weekly Greeting - October 31, 2025
All Saints Day is one of my favorite Sundays of the year.
On All Saints Day we give thanks to God for those who have gone before us in the faith, and for those who continue to encourage us in our lives of discipleship.
This Sunday we will remember five members of Bethlehem United Methodist Church who now live forever in God’s perfect presence. As we read each name we will light a candle and hear the tolling of a bell. After we have read the five names, we will invite others in the congregation to stand and share the names of those in their lives who have gone to be with Jesus.
In our Communion liturgy we acknowledge that “with your people on earth and all the company of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn…” In Holy Communion we join those who have gone before us in praise and worship around Christ’s table, as we anticipate that day when we will be reunited with them and join them at Christ’s heavenly banquet.
I pray that you will join us in worship this Sunday and offer your thanksgiving for all who have taught you to love God and your neighbor.
With gratitude,
Mary Beth
