Weekly Greeting - May 3, 2024

Dear Congregation:

I wanted to summarize announcements I made at both services this past Sunday.

I received a letter from Bishop McAlilly last week asking me to announce that Reverend Doctor Craig Goff will be returning as our pastor for the 2024-2025 conference year.  In the letter, the Bishop pointed out that the Cabinet of the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference “worked diligently and in good faith” in making decisions that were first and foremost done to put the mission of the Church as the highest priority.  We celebrate having Craig and Stephanie for another year!

I also announced that we would be bringing on the Reverend Terry Carty as a part-time Associate Pastor, a position that was last held by Dave Bradley.  The Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) 2024 approved budget had included a salary for this position in hopes we would find the right fit to help support outreach missions, worship service and overall congregational support.  Terry is a 40-year veteran youth worker and ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church.  He co-founded Mountain T.O.P. mission program, among many other initiatives and served at Gallatin First, Walnut Grove, Murfreesboro First, Calvary and Kingston Springs United Methodist Churches.  He started this week.  We celebrate Terry becoming part of our Church Leadership!

Bethlehem United Methodist Church has a bright future, based upon a bright past and a bright present (and presence).

Bo Turner

Chair, SPRC
